Creative blocks. We’ve all been there.  There is a lot of expert advice about how to overcome one, but most stories we found were wordy and analytical. We wanted to find a better way to illustrate the different types of thinking that can help you overcome your creative block, when it dawned on us: art is really about telling a story, and making a connection with the viewer, so what better person to ask than a story board artist? We challenged the Instagram-famous story artist and corgi-lover,  Jane Kim (from the Instagram channel ArtWithJane), to illustrate the types of thinking she employs to get herself over a creative hurdle.

About Jane

Jane  discovered drawing when she was 5 years old. Growing up, she loved expressing herself through art, but it wasn’t until her second year of college when she took her first art class, Fundamentals of Design.  Jane says she found her inspiration in becoming a story artist when she realised that she watched way too many movies because she was always captivated by their great stories.  “Everybody has a story to tell. Stories are used to bring joy, teach a lesson, bring entertainment and most importantly, connect with others. So, I wanted to tell my own stories. Now, I create comics on instagram about relatable everyday life moments and what we learn from them. Life can be stressful sometimes (maybe all the time) so my goal with my comics are to bring a smile to anyone who may be having a rough day!”
